For our Men

Men's mental and emotional health in the workplace

Get involved

For Our Men is currently run by one person (a woman) but we want it to become a community voice for men and we need your help to achieve that!

So how can you help us help you? Lots of ways!

You can write for us

We’re looking for first-person accounts on every topic you can think of and more that you don’t.

Maybe you struggle with low self-esteem and the steps you took to improve it? Maybe you took time out from work because of mental ill-health and you received great (or not) support? Maybe you’ve been a (male) victim of domestic violence? Or you’d like to talk about your experience of child loss? Or facing cancer as a young man?

We’d love to hear your experiences in your words.

The pieces can be anonymised or have a little bio of you but we want to hear about what affects men’s mental and emotional health in our modern society and how you got through those difficult times.

SUBMISSIONS: OPEN (April 2020)

For our full submission guidelines, please click here.
Please email them to submissions@forourmen.com

For our police network, the above submission guidelines apply but pieces will be held behind our members wall. If you have any additional queries or concerns, please do get in touch with us!

You can volunteer with us

We can’t do this alone so if you have any time you can spare and believe in what we’re trying to for our men, please get involved.

We’re currently looking for anyone who can help :

  • lightly proof read and edit personal stories submitted to us
  • help us find stories on men’s mental, physical and emotional health and their issues in general
  • admins for our social media

We have set up our Facebook page and will soon be launching our private groups.

Whilst we will post content in each, we’re aware that the time and energy needed to build engaged communities (and not just ‘broadcast’) is not something we’re able to dedicate much time to currently.

Therefore we are looking for men who would be happy to become admins for the following groups:

  • General (as this group is public & open to everyone, the admin for this group could be a man or woman)
  • Police
  • Fire
  • Ambulance
(please note that the Police, Fire and Ambulance groups are men only and therefore we would be looking for a man/men to become admins. They can be currently serving members or recently left).

You can be interviewed

We would love to interview a range of men across demographics and work sectors about issues that are important to them and give them a voice.

If you have a suggestion who to interview or believe it would be beneficial For Our Men to interview you, please let us know.

Right now, we already have a list of people we plan to interview so please consider writing for us instead for the moment but keep checking back to see when we’re keen to interview more of you again!

Work with us

Do you run a podcast with an episode that you think would be great for our audience? Or maybe you host YouTube discussions on men’s issues? Have you been a news or author piece about men’s issues that you think would help our men? Send them over!

We would love to host a range of mediums on our site from men in their shed’s to professional think-tanks and aim to share this content through this site and our newsletter which you can sign up to in the left-hand sidebar or bottom of our page.

We would also love to get into your teams and organisations to run workshops and presentations around men’s mental health (without the bullshit and plenty of laughs) to empower men to feel understood and listened to. We can also advise on how to create male-friendly workplace wellbeing initiatives!

Please get in touch if you’d like to work together.

Tell everyone about us!

This community is only going to succeed in helping men and achieving our objectives if you help us do it! So tell your mates what we’re doing but more importantly, tell your bosses! Help get us into your workplace to start the conversations our men need!
